ABSTRACT

Action plans need to clarify how decisions will be made, identify professional development required to learn new skills and gain new knowledge, and clarify the use of partners to achieve the vision. A school's leadership structure, professional development strategies, and partnership development plan are important components of the answer to the question, How can we get to where we want to be? This chapter shows how Little River Elementary School created a school improvement plan using the data gathered and analyzed. A leadership structure can ensure that a plan is truly implemented. Leadership structures must look like the vision. The professional development schedule that reinforces the Leadership Structure and overall plan can help staff know if the plan is possible and what adjustments are necessary.
