ABSTRACT

The main purpose of Using Data to Improve Student Learning in High Schools is to show analyses of a real high school's data, using a continuous school improvement planning model to understand, explain, and continuously improve learning for all students. Done well, data analysis is a massive activity requiring the technical support of knowledgeable people and a data warehouse. Districts are coming on board with acquiring data warehouses that will enable the storage of a large number of data elements, and the analysis of data quickly, easily, accurately, and meaningfully. School districts or schools that do not have such a tool right now must begin looking and preparing to buy a data warehouse, because they need one. A school's performance cannot improve without the building administrator(s) being totally dedicated to and engaged in this process.
