ABSTRACT

The main purpose of Using Data to Improve Student Learning in School Districts is to show data analyses of four real school districts, using a continuous improvement planning model to understand, explain, and continuously improve learning for all students. The way the school district organizes itself to provide for its students is revealed in the demographic data. School district personnel reviewing these data need to take the time to comprehensively analyze their own system’s demographic data. The Continuous Improvement Continuums are powerful system analysis tools. These assessments help whole staffs talk the same talk and walk the same walk. The way in which instruction is delivered is the one element over which schools/districts have complete control, and the one that is seldom analyzed thoroughly. Demographic, perceptual, and student learning data can also show process data. In analyzing student learning results, Canyon View used its state criterion-referenced test.
