ABSTRACT

Literature Circles are a natural follow-up to Socratic discussion because they also strive to develop independent and reflective thinking. The major difference between the Circles and discussion is that the leader's role in Literature Circles is divided into several distinct roles. On the other hand, in both activities the goal is the same-to increase understanding (comprehension), and as a result, enjoyment of the story so that kids learn how to get into books and become lifelong readers.
