ABSTRACT
Lesson plans 15-20 center on comparison-contrast discussions and follow-up comparison-contrast and persuasive essays (for assessments). In each case, be it a novel, short story, or a Shakespearean play, students become aware that when a movie director changes the plot of a story in any significant way, he necessarily alters the theme-the overall meaning of the plot. Such changes should make students wonder if the author of the original story would have approved. If so, why? If not, why not?
