ABSTRACT
Coaching others requires courage, preparation, and thoughtful consideration of the challenges ahead. Therefore, m ath coaches w ork to be aware of w hat teach ers do in the classroom, w hat the school com m unity w ants to do, and w hat they can do to make a difference. This requires an initial investm ent in preparation, and a day-to-day willingness to re tu rn to the heart for guidance and renewal. This chapter will examine effective leadership characteristics, help coaches iden tify specific goals for the school year, and suggest w ays for scheduling time and communicating w ith others.
