ABSTRACT

Coaching others requires courage, preparation, and thoughtful consideration of the challenges ahead. Therefore, m ath coaches w ork to be aware of w hat teach­ ers do in the classroom, w hat the school com m unity w ants to do, and w hat they can do to make a difference. This requires an initial investm ent in preparation, and a day-to-day willingness to re tu rn to the heart for guidance and renewal. This chapter will examine effective leadership characteristics, help coaches iden­ tify specific goals for the school year, and suggest w ays for scheduling time and communicating w ith others.
