ABSTRACT

In-depth classroom projects can extend learning into the home and help students discover and enjoy family memories and histories. Good projects tap parents’ funds of knowledge and increase the involvement of all parents in their children’s education (see pages 9–10). In these projects, language spoken at home is not an issue. Parents’ formal education is not an issue. Transportation is not an issue. If students have a few days to connect with a family partner to complete the assignment, time is not an issue.
