ABSTRACT
This chapter addresses the issues of violence and conflict as factors that contribute to the school dropout problem. We list and discuss the elements of a comprehensive program for con flict resolution and violence prevention, describe the impact and benefits of effective models, and provide information about es tablished programs that can serve as valuable resources for schools and communities that seek to make their schools safe places where all students can achieve.
