ABSTRACT
In the following section, we describe the predictable causes of tension between principals and teacher leaders. Then we describe the various informal and formal teacher leader roles, with emphasis on the emerging formal instructional teacher leader role. Finally, we recommend the areas of skill development that are critical for teacher leader success.
