ABSTRACT
When students work on a multistep project such as a research paper, multigenre presentation, or reading a full-length work of literature, we need to use formative assessments to check their progress. In this chapter, we will look carefully at the many checkpoints along the way of a learning experience that is completed over time. The purpose of these checkpoints is to intervene where we find misunderstandings.
