ABSTRACT

The most important duty of a principal is to ensure that each child receives a quality education. The walk-through experience should continue to evolve to a point where the principal can take a more active role in coaching, mentoring, and experimenting with teachers in a manner that develops strong partnerships and trusting relationships that help each classroom get closer to the vision. Great coaches share a number of characteristics that contribute to their effectiveness. People have varying learning styles and personality types and thus experts in the field of professional coaching suggest that it makes sense to differentiate strategies when working with teachers. A school needs coaches who can help teachers with modifications and enhancements to the curriculum and instruction, as well as improvements to formative and summative assessments. When a child experiences a learning difficulty, it is the shared responsibility of all professionals to work together, much in the same way that a hospital responds in an emergency room.
