ABSTRACT

This chapter provides leveled examples of embedding formative assessments into a specific differentiated instructional strategy called self-expressive-based learning. According to Silver, Strong, and Perini (2007), self-expressive learning strategies focus on imagination and creativity. Students who learn best through this style have a strong need to express their individuality and originality. Silver et al. (2007) divide this style into four main types: inductive learning, metaphorical expression, pattern maker, and mind's eye.
