ABSTRACT

This chapter provides leveled examples of embedding formative assessment into a specific differentiated instructional strategy called interpersonal-based learning. Interpersonal-based assessments use students’ natural inclination to work together and to help each other. These kinds of assessments, with some teacher guidance and prompting, should inspire most students to learn; however, they especially appeal to students who feel a need to form a personal relationship with the learning activities and with their fellow students. These students want to feel a sense of belonging and their priority is relationship building.
