All principals face the challenge of balancing rules and guidelines with those times when they need to make exceptions to the established rules.
All principals must establish internal ground rules for making decisions in such instances. One internal standard that supports effective leadership is to always ask when making decisions, “Who is most comfortable and who is least comfortable in this situation?”
