ABSTRACT

I have had the good fortune to spend 10 years working at the middle school level. In addition, I have enjoyed six or more years’ service at both the elementary and high school levels. All three levels are unique and seem to have their own distinct advantages and challenges for educators and students alike. At the elementary level, many of my friends enjoy the fact that their students are still so excited about coming to school. My friends at the high school level seem to enjoy being able to pass along their love of a certain academic discipline to their students. At the middle school level, we truly are a bridge between the two. While no one level of teaching is any easier or more difficult than another, students at each level arrive with vastly different abilities and needs.
