ABSTRACT
Excellent teachers of mathematics use plain English to create language-based formative assessment. Formative assessment is information that students give to teachers about their learning. The purpose of formative assessment is to determine the teacher's next steps in instruction. Formative assessment affects the teacher's plan book, not her grade book.
