Several examples included in the previous chapter involve praising a difficult staff member. Some of the examples entail public praising and others were more private. Praise in the Fri­ day Focus is an example of public commendation. When prais­ ing difficult teachers, it is important to keep in mind the thoughts and feelings of your positive staff. Be very sensitive to how they will feel when you praise the difficult teachers publicly. They could easily become resentful-and rightfully so.
