ABSTRACT

Although difficult teachers often have many different char­ acteristics, one similarity that a great number of less effective teachers share is low interpersonal intelligence. They do not have

afeelor senseof howtheyarecomingacrosstothepeoplewith whomtheyarecommunicating.Anexampleofthisisateacher whoisapoorlecturerandyettheteacherpersistsinlecturingas aprimarymodeofteaching.Toanoutsideroreventothestu­ dents,itisobviousthatfewpeoplepayattention,understand, orcarewhattheteacherissaying.Yet,theteacherhasnoaware­ nessofhowpoorlystudentsrespond.
