ABSTRACT
On the first day of a new authentic learning unit (ALU), fourth-grade students read their problem-based task and analytic rubric and make the list of what they will need to learn to complete the task. The teacher distributes a unit calendar with intermediate due dates, as well as quiz and test dates. Students use the calendar and activity list to schedule each week on Monday morning.
