ABSTRACT

The informal classroom observation has evolved in the literature and in practice. Recently, there has been a resurgence in attention to the informal classroom observation (Downey, Steffy, English, Frase, & Poston, 2004; Zepeda, 2008). Historically, the popularity of informal classroom observation emerged in the 1980s and can be tied to the management-bywandering-around (MBWA) movement, which was popularized with the publication of the Peters and Waterman (1982) book, In Search of Excellence: Lessons From America’s Best Run Companies.
