ABSTRACT
What links the great Leaders and patriots in the leadership epics is their all-consuming love of the Fatherland. Their lives are consecrated to the service of the Fatherland. No sacrifice is too great for the Fatherland. This devotion to the Fatherland is constantly hymned in the propaganda films of the Reich. It was classically expressed in Hans Springer's eulogistic film poem Der ewiger Wald (The Eternal Forest), made in 1936, which renders the Nazi ‘Blut und Boden’ doctrine in vivid cinematic terms.
