ABSTRACT

The second of the three phases into which the 1930s has been divided covers the years 1933 to 1936. It began with splendid triumphs and the production of some of the finest films made in this country. It ended in disillusion and dispute. New names come into the story—Arthur Rank, Oscar Deutsch, Alexander Korda. These have, in fact, been described as Korda's years, because his reputation and influence were immense just then.
