ABSTRACT

Until 1948 ABPC’S production was virtually confined to the small stages at Welwyn. Then the studios at Elstree were reopened, greatly altered and supplied with much new equipment. The first productions were not notable, but before long Elstree had resumed its former rôle as the training ground of directors, technicians and stars. Lee Thomson was there, directing his first film for ABPC, Murder Without Crime. Michael Anderson, who was to direct The Dam Busters, was already under contract. Soon afterwards the youthful dancer, Audrey Hepburn, was too.
