ABSTRACT

I’ve just completed my lesson plan for the day, and there are five more minutes before the bell rings. There’s not enough time to start the next day’s lesson, and I don’t really want to give students five minutes of free time—class time is too valuable; if I do it once I’m concerned they’ll want it often, and I just know if I give it to them today my principal will pick that time to come in to observe your class. Plus, five minutes is long enough for kids to get into trouble. What do should I do?
