ABSTRACT

On a more philosophical level, a defi nition of population is in itself problematic as it leads to a narrow defi nition of identity rather than a holistic defi nition of what is a whole person. Identity is made up of many diff erent ‘population’ parameters such as the interactive complexity of temperamental characteristics versus social history, or nature versus nurture, that mould each other in the context of a specifi c developmental stage, to name but a few possible interactions.
