ABSTRACT

Knowledge of language and mechanisms that put it to use interest other groups of researchers beside linguists. The point of view of generative linguistics has not been the only angle from which one can approach the language faculty. Neuropsychologists, in particular, have been looking at language in quite a different way (see Goodglass and Kaplan, 1972; Geschwind, 1979, for statements of one dominant approach). It seems to me, however, that adjacent disciplines will gain tremendously if they look into each other's achievements.
