ABSTRACT

As the materiality of sites and sights recording histories of water governance VKLIWRYHUWLPHVRGRHVZDWHUDVDPDWHULDOIRUP&KDQJLQJZDWHUÀRZVDQG water scarcity through prolonged drought, poor management and unequal access exacerbate social relations and claims to water access and use. The water politics which emerge from changing water allocations are enmeshed in relations of risk, trust and uncertainty. This contested sphere becomes highly politicised and fraught as governments, water trusts and interest groups attempt to intervene through legislation or advocacy by altering water allocations within communities.
