ABSTRACT

Every display has a finite number of pixels that are usable; this display area is known as the raster. Raster mapping is just a few of the advantages of rendering a single piece of content from multiple clips if the intention is for playback at HD resolution. As video content being used on most productions is largely HD, the programmer has to be aware of how many layers are active at any given time, and he/she has to be creative in how those layers are physically managed. To put video at the controls of a DMX lighting console, the LD has the ability to enable a live video input at any moment. Think of this like creating a Picture in Picture (PiP). To set up for this, you can create a layer on top of the main image and scale it to fit within a specific area of the raster.
