ABSTRACT

This chapter examines a few of the essential steps take to be prepared before arriving on the job site. In addition to the media server one may need other pieces of gear to make the connections between console, server, and display devices. The chapter suggests that taking the time to draw out the control signal path as well as the video signal path ahead of time to make how many and what kinds of cables or any special adapters may be needed to connect everything together. Many people use Nemetschek Vectorworks®or another type of CAD drawing application for this purpose, and the author regularly use a flowchart application called OmniGraffle®. After powering up the server, open up the display Settings before to launch the media server application and set display resolution to the settings recommended for the media server and for the type of display device being used. Selects a file within that folder via its corresponding DMX channel.
