ABSTRACT

This chapter describes lighting consoles that can display streaming video and other data from a media server have big advantages over consoles that only display Digital Multiplex (DMX) values for a media server's channels. Controller Interface Transport Protocol (CITP) works by transmitting a layer of data for live streaming video from the media server over Art-Net, and this stream also includes layers for DMX, information for selections of fixtures, reports, and patching. The Media Server Extensions layer is used for communication with media servers and allows information for specified elements to be passed from the media server to the console and/or visualizer. In situations where user don't intend to use Art-Net, but still want to be able to view live streaming video from the media server to another application, user may have the option of using Syphon™. And visualizers such as ESP Vision have also implemented HMap2 connectivity for use with the Hippotizer.
