ABSTRACT

Formal resource sharing in Louisiana began in 1990, spurred in part by statewide funding shortages in the mid-1980s. Citizens of Louisiana have benefited from access to online catalogs, electronic databases, the Internet and other shared services through cooperative efforts among the libraries of higher education, the State Library and public libraries, LSU's computer center, private industry, state agencies, and the Louisiana Center for Educational Technology on behalf of school libraries.
