ABSTRACT

The English Department of Gakushuin University chose Love’s Labour’s Lost for its thirteenth annual Shakespearean production, which was given on sixteenth and seventeenth of May, 1968. This choice was rather strange, because the play does not come within the usual repertory of Japanese students’ theatrical groups. Most probably, it had never before been presented by Japanese actors, either professional or amateur, either in the English language or in a Japanese translation.
