ABSTRACT

The author was reading her mail at the office, and waiting for a client to arrive, when she came across a catalog from The Haworth Press advertising books from their Gay and Lesbian Publishing Program. Without editing or rewriting, she quickly submitted a sample of my columns to Haworth. It felt very daring, somewhat impulsive, and a bit foolhardy. By the end of the month, she had a return letter saying my book proposal had: received a preliminary review in-house and has been forwarded to our program editor with expertise in this area, for further consideration. They believed such a collection would make an exciting addition to The Haworth Press book program "Innovations in Feminist Studies". She has taken a personal risk in being so self-revealing, risking exposure and vulnerability for the column to be meaningful and authentic. Hopefully this opportunity will challenge her to put words together more poetically, more powerfully.
