ABSTRACT

Once a commitment is made, it seems as if relationship changes dramatically. They have gotten to know each other well enough that our 'little selves' emerge the sad infant, the scared toddler, the rebellious teenager. The authors start hurting, disappointing, and resenting each other. We have difficulty accepting our partners or ourselves. Our everyday realities distract and overwhelm us work, money, health, family. We become blaming, disconnected, and polarized. Our sex lives suffer. First, let's take a look at that 'honeymoon' period. That's the time in which we've recently become attracted and have decided that we like each other well enough to make love. A southern dumpling child biscuit eater, tea sipper okra slicer, gravy dipper, she fry potatoes with onions stew greens and ride her lover high upon the butterfat shine of her thighs where her belly arches and sweetly tastes of rock salt on watermelon sunshine sharp teeth bite light and lick slow like mama's favorite dumpling child.
