ABSTRACT

In the UK, a large secondary school receives a budget (formula funded) of something, say, in the region of £2 million. The LEA will already have taken its share of the funds allocated by government to the local area in order to provide various support programmes and initiatives. Having drawn up a budget based on a centrally approved formula, the LEA presents a sum to school management which construct the school budget, allocating funds to departments, pastoral teams and faculties.
