ABSTRACT

My exploration of public relations in financial discourses begins at the apex of financial markets, where national financial systems – governments, central banks and state financial institutions – promote trustworthiness by affirming creditworthiness of national investment assets. Since states raise large volumes of funding in global markets, the image of nations has a strong influence on the flow of international capital. Public relations therefore plays an integral role in promoting a nation’s creditworthiness both within its borders and internationally, promoting national currencies and debt instruments, and promoting the financial stability behind these instruments.
