ABSTRACT

It is indisputable that women are victims of unbelievable horrific injustices and atrocities in armed conflict zones. Whether they were heads of household, community leaders, activists, peace-builders, refugees, internally displaced, or combatants; women's experiences are different than those of men. In such situations, women also do not have the same political rights, authority, or access to resources, or control over their environment and the power to satisfy their needs as men. Although such gender inequality existed in the pre-conflict period, it has been massively exacerbated during the conflict, which has limited women's mobility and their ability to live and to protect themselves.
