ABSTRACT
Among his countless performances at the Black Cat Cafe there are a few that José remembers vividly and with considerable fondness. One such performance occurred the week that San Francisco hosted the first International Deaf Mute Conference. After a long day of lectures and panels and classes, the men and women in attendance wanted to relax and spend an entertaining evening in their beautiful host city. One of the evening events offered was a show at the outrageous and notorious Black Cat Cafe. A large group excitedly piled onto a bus for their sojourn into West Coast bohemia.
