One o f the first contributions of systems dynamics to understand ing organizational learning lies in the way managers’ mental mod els might be improved. Recognition of managers’ mental models dates from the beginnings of the systems dynamics field (Forrester, 1961, pp. 49-50):
A mental image or a verbal description in English can form a model of a corporate organization and its processes. The man ager deals continuously with these mental and verbal models of the corporation.
