ABSTRACT

Charles Darwin was born in 1809 and died in 1882. He is known widely for his contribution to the theory of evolution known as natural selection. In 1859, with the publication of On the Origin of Species, the world entered a new phase in the manner in which humankind understands its own existence. Darwin’s personal life was difficult due to an aggravating illness that recurred during three different periods of his life. His relationship to his father was strained, especially prior to the scholarly reception of some of Darwin’s papers and monographs after the completion of the voyage of the Beagle in 1836.
