ABSTRACT

Ludwig van Beethoven, 1770–1827, was a native of Bonn, Germany. He is renowned for his many symphonies and musical creations ranging from sonatas to preludes to piano concertos. Ludwig was the son of an alcoholic, domineering, and opportunistic father—Johann van Beethoven. Ludwig appeared to be so angry at life that he never came to terms with civility. Rather, as a musical prodigy, he insisted throughout his life that others recognize and respect him for his musical genius.
