ABSTRACT
In many discussions of the Olympic Games, it is assumed that a city wins the right to host the event. We need to replace the notion of a city winning the Games with the image of the Games capturing a city. The idea of a permanent home for the Olympic Games is not new. The original Olympics were always held in Olympia, Greece. In 1896, after the very first modern Games, the King of Greece called for the event to be located permanently in his country as a 'peaceful meeting place of all nations.' As one of the biggest events on the planet, it would not be difficult to generate funds to cover the initial construction and operating costs. Rather than changing a nomadic site for fixed site, some argue for a decentralizing to multiple sites. This would involve an Olympic Games where different cities simultaneously hosted different athletic events.
