ABSTRACT
Accuracy is journalism’s prime directive. Close isn’t good enough; almost right is still wrong. And being first with a story doesn’t matter if the story is not right. Getting facts right sounds simple, but it’s not always easy, and often it can’t be done quickly. A journalist’s passion for accuracy must be obsessive. Chapter 3 illustrates what happens when journalists make mistakes and provides tips for how young journalists can develop sound reporting habits to verify their stories and document their accuracy.
