ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at the domain “Teacher”. The core messages in the domains “Student”, “Home”, “School”, “Classroom”, and “Teaching” emphasized the role of teachers. In this respect, the question is raised as to what distinguishes successful teachers. The domain “Teacher” comprises all those factors that analyze the competences and attitudes of teachers regarding subject matter, and didactic and pedagogical aspects. The term “Teacher subject matter knowledge” is used nationally as well as globally. Educational competence mainly concerns the teacher’s ability to establish contact and build a relationship with students, and to create an atmosphere of safety and trust. The chapter addresses the factor “Teacher–student relationships”: classroom teaching by nature comprises a dialogue structure between learners and teachers who meet over the content of the lesson. Teacher clarity is about deliberate consideration and sharing of goals, content, methods, and media.
