ABSTRACT
This chapter has a dual purpose. First, to shed some light about social justice in the country of Mexico. Second, to show that the security and human rights crisis that Mexico faces today cannot be understood without considering the deep social inequalities, since they significantly contribute to the increase of violence and to the fragility and incompetence of the institutions that try to hold it back.
