ABSTRACT

In this chapter, I will discuss many of the issues associated with procedural justice, both external and internal, as well as the specific elements of these concepts, such as legitimacy, trust, community partnerships and outreach, respect and dignity, fairness and neutrality, communication and voice, transparency, accountability and oversight, and training and education. I will also discuss the issues associated with bias and natural justice, including explicit and implicit bias, explain the Implicit Association Test (IAT), and discuss some strategies to reduce bias and enhance procedural justice. Many of these concepts are very closely related.
