ABSTRACT

Sometimes different experts have differing perspectives. Anyone capturing knowledge for preservation may encounter the issue of what to do when competing experts tell different stories or, most troubling, when agendas among stakeholders obscure factual information. A Traditional Expert will carry the experience all his life of being exceptional, being misunderstood, and being isolated from the mainstream. A NextGen Expert swims in the social flow connecting easily with like-minded peers from the US, Russia, China, Britain, and Germany. NextGen Experts are natural sharers and learners, a circumstance that may make the traditional training role obsolete. Traditional employees were schooled in a linear and proprietary culture. The project managers’ traditional employees often are people with a static mindset who worry about capturing current internal expertise for business growth. Steve Hutson sees many changes ahead in the deployment and use of artificial intelligence and its effect on the value of human expertise.
