ABSTRACT

The variety of experts and their areas of expertise require a training professional to oversee knowledge capture. When project managers are creating a plan for working with their subject matter expert, they need to consider the kind of information they will be collecting. The project managers will be gathering information from experts as diverse as machine operators, accountants, software engineers, warehouse floor supervisors, and corporate executives. The variety of experts and their areas of expertise require a training professional to oversee knowledge capture. A training professional is there to ensure that no steps are missed, and knowledge is captured in a way that is comprehensible to the naive learner. The core of knowledge collection is the personal interview. Whenever possible, project managers need to meet and talk with their subject matter experts. When project managers are looking for critical information from their internal subject matter experts, they will find it in all three domains: knowledge, skills, and attitudes.
