ABSTRACT
The essay aims to specify and describe the most important rules of environmental protection together with processes related to it, which may occur during realization of High Speed Rail in Poland. All the issues connected with construction of a railway investment and its further exploitation have to be in line with regulations and requirements of the environmental protection. A proper analysis of any administrative procedures, good practices necessary to be taken into account during construction (projecting included) of a HSL and operation on it, may lead to rationalization of the whole process of creation of High Speed Rail in Poland.
Moreover, the present material tries to specify what kind of effects on the environment, both positive and negative, may a realization of High Speed Rail construction have. Definition of the most important elements of the environment together with their susceptibility and the most crucial features will allow to identify the main threats which could have a negative impact on the state of the environment, as well as to indicate possible solutions / protections against their negative impact. Identification of the most important influences at an early stage may allow to minimize them to the limits described in law regulations and / or accepted by the society.
In the essay also the positive aspects were not omitted, together with tangible benefits resulting from emergence of such an important investment for the railway transport as the construction of High Speed Rail.
