ABSTRACT

When we work with clients, sooner or later we will come face to face with our own issues, those that inhabit our personal living rooms and bedrooms as well as our therapy offices. Almost always, the confrontation is a surprise. We may even feel blindsided, especially when a client’s story suddenly opens an old wound we didn’t know was still ready to open and gush. The supervisory word for this is countertransference. This chapter harks back to Chapter 1 to address the multidimensionality of sexual experience. Neuro Update #33 addresses the neuroscience of serenity and peace, and how to gain control over one’s own brain activity, with reference to Sylvia Kober.
